Love is granted by graces and mercy not by the effort we put in the pursuing of it.

Love is granted by graces and mercy not by the effort we put in the pursuing of it, though we may still yet try to pursue love for we delight in the process of it.

If love is obtain through our effort in pursuing, Love then wouldn't be love but demeaning for the value of Love would have been weight by how much work you put in.

And indeed it is invaluable. No one can obtain love through works. There is really nothing much one can do but to delight in the abundant love of God that freely gives to those that He wills..

Love thus is given through grace.

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that save a wretch like me!
I once was lost,but now am found; Was blind,but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fear relieved;
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

Ephesians 2:8-9
New Living Translation (NLT)
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Romans 6:15-18
New Living Translation (NLT)
15 Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! 16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. 17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. 18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.
