The agony of Christ "A Cross Study"

The agony of Christ "A Cross Study"
==============================

You feel much because you knew much.

Knowing the full Holiness of God and taking the Sin of all His beloved upon His shoulder.

The full wrath of God was pour upon our saviour. He drank the whole cup until its dregs and not a drop was left. (Jeremiah 25:15; Mark 14:36)

Jesus knew God and God knew Jesus. (Matthew 3:17 ;John 14:10 ;John 10:14;Genesis 4:1 NKJV)

Being in perfect love with God,the triune God have not been separated since eternity. (John 17:5 ; John 1:1)

God sent His only begotten Son in whom He is well please to the cross. (Matthew 3:17; John 3:16)

He who knew no sin become sin for us.

A verse in which theologian tremble to explain. (2 Corinthian 5:21)

Sin was detestable and an abhorrence to Christ.

Sin is rebellion against God.

Christ hated Sin with an immense hatred.

Yet our Sin was imputed upon Him.

Habakkuk 1:13 NASB
Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor.

That was what's going on in the mind of Christ.

And ultimately lead Him to exclaimed.

My Lord my Lord why have you forsaken me. Matthew 27:46

The pain of having God turning His back upon Christ renders the physical suffering of the cross seem negligible.

He refuses to take the sour wine.

We do not understand His pain.

It is not the Roman cross.

Matthew 27:34 NASB
they gave Him wine to drink mixed with gall; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink.

It is the pain of God turning His back on Christ.

Mark 14:36 NKJV
And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will. ”

On the cross, Jesus prays for the forgiveness of those who have crucified Him.

Luke 23:34 NASB
But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

This is what He was sent for. (John 3:17)

A Sin offering for us all. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

At the cross our Lord Jesus Christ was cursed on our behalf.

Galatians 3:13 NKJV
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

On the cross He bore the full curse that was pronounce on mount Ebal so that we may be blessed with the blessing of mount Gerizim. (Deuteronomy 27:13; Deuteronomy 11:29)

He was cursed so that we may be bless.

On the cross the holy one takes upon Himself the filth that belongs to us. (1 Peter 2:24)

God was please to crush Him; He was please to accept the atonement offered by Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 53:10)

By his wound we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

On the cross the justice of God was satisfied. (Romans 3:25)

Christ has paid our ransom in full to God. (Hebrews 9:12-15)

Christ has fulfilled the law on our behalf. (Matthew 5:17;Romans 8:3-4)

Such is the Love of the Father our God. (1 John 3:1)

Such is the Love of Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:8)

Such is the pain and agony God the Father has went through. (Col 1:15;Hebrews 4:15;Luke 19:41)

Such is the pain and agony Christ has suffered. (1 Peter 2:21)

Who will be able to comprehend?

Romans 8:35 NKJV
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Do you know the holiness of God?

Does it pains you to sin before God?

Does it pains you when the holiness of God is tarnish?

Does is pain you to the point of sweating blood?

Luke 22:42-44 NKJV
saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
