Flee from Delilah.

Flee from Delilah.
For she seekest to devour.

A little thither. (Judges 16:7-17)
And we lose our strength.

A little yonder. (Judges 16:19-21)
And we forfeit our treasured procession; our manhood

Like a pile of refuse.
We have all become worthless.

Such is the power of her enticement.
And the weakness of our flesh.

But thanks be to the Lord our God. (Romans 7:24)
We will not lose courage.

For our strength is in the Lord.
And in Him we place our hope. (Psalm 28:7)

Come spirit Come! (John 16:13)
Who knows what God has prepared for those who love him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Judges 16:19-21
Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down, and his strength left him.

Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”

When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the lord had left him.

So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in the prison.

Barnes commentary on Judges 16:20
========================
The possession of his extraordinary strength is ascribed (e. g. Jdg 13:25) to the presence of the Spirit of the Lord. Now the Lord, or the Spirit of the Lord, had departed from him, and so his strength had gone too. The practical lesson against the presumption of self-dependence, and the all-importance of a hearty dependence upon God’s Holy Spirit, must not be overlooked.
